Classic Margherita Pizza

- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture; knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Roll the dough into a pizza shape and spread tomato sauce evenly on top.
- Layer mozzarella cheese and season with salt and pepper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden.
- Remove from the oven, add fresh basil, and serve hot.
Notes
For a crispy crust, bake on a pizza stone or preheated baking sheet.
