Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • Red gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, blending thoroughly.
  5. Divide dough into two portions. Color one portion red with food coloring.
  6. Roll the contrasting color doughs together and twist them to create swirls.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden. Let cool before serving.

Notes

For best results, use room temperature butter and chill the dough if it’s too sticky.
