Description
A delicious and easy breakfast casserole made with flaky crescent rolls, savory sausage, and a mix of eggs and cheese, perfect for family gatherings or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package crescent roll dough (8 oz)
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 8 oz breakfast sausage
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar recommended)
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
- Fresh herbs like parsley, chives, or thyme
- Diced jalapeños or crushed red pepper flakes for spice (optional)
Instructions
- Brown the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked and browned. Drain any excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and slightly frothy.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Unroll the crescent roll dough, pressing the seams together to form a solid crust.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage over the dough, followed by a generous layer of shredded cheese and any veggies or herbs.
- Pour the egg and milk mixture evenly over the layered ingredients.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes until the eggs are set and the crust is golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Slice into squares and serve warm. Add toppings like salsa or avocado for extra flavor. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or frozen for longer.
