A delicious dessert combining the sweetness of apples with flaky pastry. Easy to make with store-bought puff pastry.

Ingredients

  • 1 package of store-bought puff pastry
  • 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, raisins, and walnuts.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
  4. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
  5. Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling, then roll it up tightly from one end to the other.
  6. Place the strudel seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Brush the pastry with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
