- 1 package of store-bought puff pastry
- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Flour (for dusting)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, mix the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, raisins, and walnuts.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pastry, leaving a border around the edges.
- Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling, then roll it up tightly from one end to the other.
- Place the strudel seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Brush the pastry with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
