A simple recipe for homemade char siu sauce, perfect for marinating meats or as a glaze.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 4 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ginger and garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl.
  2. If a thicker sauce is desired, cook in a pan for 5 minutes.

Notes

Store in a sealed container in the fridge for a week or freeze for up to 3 months.
