Description

Light and airy meringue cookies that melt in your mouth, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (93°C) and prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, whip the egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the sugar while continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold in vanilla extract, if using.
  5. Transfer the meringue to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe tree shapes onto the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 1 hour or until the meringues are dry and easily lift off the parchment paper.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Store meringue cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for up to 3 months. No need to reheat; enjoy straight from the container.
