Description

Classic chocolate chip cookies with crisp edges and a soft, chewy center, perfect for baking enthusiasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150 g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165 g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups (280 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces (340 g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cream unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light, about 2–3 minutes.
  2. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt; add to the butter mixture until just combined.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  5. Chill dough for 30–60 minutes.
  6. Scoop 1.5 tablespoon portions onto parchment-lined baking sheets, placing them 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are slightly soft.
  8. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough significantly improves texture and flavor. Use room-temperature ingredients for best results.
