Ingredients

  • 1 pound Gnocchi
  • 8 ounces Mushrooms (cremini, shiitake, or button)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil Leaves (roughly chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • Kosher Salt (to taste)
  • Black Pepper (freshly ground, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (freshly grated, optional for serving)

Instructions

  1. Gather all your ingredients: gnocchi, mushrooms, fresh basil, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  3. Add the gnocchi in a single layer and cook for 5-7 minutes without stirring until golden brown.
  4. Flip the gnocchi and cook for another 5-7 minutes until both sides are golden and crispy.
  5. In a separate pan, sauté sliced mushrooms with a pinch of salt for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Add minced garlic to the mushrooms and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  7. Combine the toasted gnocchi with the sautéed mushrooms and garlic in the skillet, tossing gently.
  8. Add chopped fresh basil and stir for 1-2 minutes to meld the flavors.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
  10. Serve immediately, garnished with additional fresh basil and cheese if desired.

Notes

Use good quality olive oil for better flavor. Don’t overcrowd the skillet while toasting gnocchi; cook in batches if necessary.
