- 1 pound Gnocchi
- 8 ounces Mushrooms (cremini, shiitake, or button)
- 1/4 cup Fresh Basil Leaves (roughly chopped)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- Kosher Salt (to taste)
- Black Pepper (freshly ground, to taste)
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (freshly grated, optional for serving)
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients: gnocchi, mushrooms, fresh basil, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add the gnocchi in a single layer and cook for 5-7 minutes without stirring until golden brown.
- Flip the gnocchi and cook for another 5-7 minutes until both sides are golden and crispy.
- In a separate pan, sauté sliced mushrooms with a pinch of salt for 8-10 minutes until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic to the mushrooms and sauté for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Combine the toasted gnocchi with the sautéed mushrooms and garlic in the skillet, tossing gently.
- Add chopped fresh basil and stir for 1-2 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional fresh basil and cheese if desired.
Notes
Use good quality olive oil for better flavor. Don’t overcrowd the skillet while toasting gnocchi; cook in batches if necessary.
