Instructions
- Rinse the wild rice under cold water to remove excess starch.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.
- Add diced onions, garlic, and celery or carrots; sauté until softened.
- Stir in the rinsed wild rice and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Add the broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for about 45 minutes, until the rice is tender.
- Remove from heat and fluff with a fork; finish with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian option, use vegetable broth. Consider adding toasted nuts or dried fruits for extra flavor and texture.
