Description

Delicious and tender beef short ribs made quickly in the Instant Pot, featuring rich flavors and a melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 bone-in beef short ribs (about 3 lbs)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 34 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup low-sodium beef broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Season the beef short ribs with salt and pepper on all sides.
  2. Press the ‘Sauté’ button on the Instant Pot and add vegetable oil.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the beef short ribs and brown them for about 3-4 minutes on each side. Remove the ribs and set them aside.
  4. In the same pot, add chopped onion and garlic. Cook until the onion becomes soft, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the beef broth, tomato sauce, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, dried thyme, bay leaf, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  6. Place the beef short ribs back into the pot, making sure they are submerged in the sauce.
  7. Close the lid, ensure the valve is in the sealing position, and cook on high pressure for 45 minutes.
  8. After cooking, let the pressure release naturally for about 10 minutes, then do a quick release for any remaining pressure.
  9. Carefully open the lid and serve the ribs with the sauce.

Notes

Add carrots and potatoes for a complete one-pot meal. Adjust the seasoning to taste.
