A fun twist on a classic grilled cheese sandwich using crispy waffles and a sweet-savory filling of cheese and jam.
Ingredients

- 4 waffles
- 1–2 tablespoons softened cream cheese or mascarpone
- 2 ounces shredded sharp cheddar or gruyère
- 1 tablespoon fruit jam, Nutella, or sliced fruit
- 1 teaspoon butter per side
Instructions
- Toast 4 waffles until just crisp.
- Spread 1–2 tablespoons of cream cheese or mascarpone on one waffle.
- Add 2 ounces of shredded sharp cheddar or gruyère on top.
- Top with 1 tablespoon of fruit jam, Nutella, or sliced fruit.
- Butter the outsides of the sandwich lightly with 1 teaspoon of butter per side.
- Cook in a preheated nonstick skillet over medium heat (about 325°F) for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and the cheese melts.
- Let the sandwich rest for 1 minute before cutting.
