Description

Swedish meatballs are tender and flavorful, smothered in a creamy sauce, making them a perfect comfort food for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Lingonberry sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, allspice, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, ensuring they are uniform in size.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil.
  4. Brown the meatballs on all sides until golden, then transfer them to a plate.
  5. In the same skillet, add flour, stirring until golden, then gradually whisk in the beef broth and heavy cream.
  6. Return the meatballs to the skillet and simmer until cooked through and coated with sauce.
  7. Serve over mashed potatoes or noodles, garnished with parsley and lingonberry sauce if desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure meatballs are the same size for even cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for 3 months.
