Description
A delightful dessert combining cinnamon, nutmeg, and fresh apples, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tbsp melted butter (for brushing apples)
- 1 tbsp sugar (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin pieces. Optionally, toss them in a little cinnamon and sugar.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and arrange the sliced apples on top.
- Brush the apples with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar if desired.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the cake is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
