Ingredients

  • 4 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the beef short ribs with salt and pepper.
  2. In a skillet, brown the ribs on all sides over medium-high heat.
  3. Place the ribs in the crockpot.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
  5. Add the beef broth, red wine, soy sauce, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  6. Pour the mixture over the ribs in the crockpot.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4-5 hours until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
  8. Serve with mashed potatoes or roasted veggies, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For best results, use well-marbled beef short ribs and be sure to brown them properly for added flavor. Feel free to adjust seasonings to taste.
