- 8 ounces cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Zest from one lemon
- 3 tablespoons white sugar
- 17.25 ounces frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 16 fresh strawberries, sliced thin
- 16 teaspoons strawberry jam
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
Instructions
- In a big bowl, mix cream cheese, vanilla, lemon zest, and sugar with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Unfold puff pastry, roll out to smooth creases, and slice into long 1-inch strips.
- Twist each pastry strip, forming a circle, and place them on baking trays.
- Chill in the fridge for about 15 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Make a dip in the center of each pastry with your thumb, poke with a fork.
- Brush egg over the pastries (avoid the center), spoon jam in the center, and add the cream cheese mixture on top.
- Bake for about 18 minutes until golden and puffy, then let cool.
- Mix powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk/cream for glaze, adjusting consistency as needed.
- Top pastries with strawberry slices and drizzle with glaze before serving.
