Description

A delightful and refreshing drink perfect for hot summer days, combining sweet strawberries with brewed black tea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 black tea bags
  • 8 cups water (for brewing tea and syrup)
  • Ice cubes (as needed for serving)
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup water (for syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (optional)
  • Fresh strawberry slices or mint sprigs (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil 8 cups of water. Steep 6 black tea bags in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes, then remove the tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.
  2. In a saucepan, combine 2 cups of strawberries, 1 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water. Cook over medium heat until the strawberries break down into a syrup. Strain the syrup to remove seeds and pulp if desired.
  3. Once the tea has cooled, stir in the prepared strawberry syrup and add lemon juice if desired. Mix well.
  4. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the Southern Strawberry Sweet Iced Tea over the ice. Garnish with strawberry slices or a mint sprig. Serve chilled.

Notes

Adjust the sugar level according to your taste. Can use frozen strawberries or different herbs for variation.
