A classic Southern side dish featuring fresh green beans, crispy bacon, and garlic.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb fresh green beans
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, diced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Trim the ends of the fresh green beans and wash them thoroughly.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook diced bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside but leave the rendered fat in the pan.
  3. Sauté minced garlic in the bacon fat for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Add green beans to the skillet and stir-fry for 5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  5. Pour in soy sauce and mix well, allowing flavors to meld for an additional 2 minutes.
  6. Return crispy bacon to the skillet, toss everything together, and serve warm.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for heat. Don’t overcook the green beans; they should be bright green and tender-crisp.
