Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (or lamb)
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground meat over medium heat, then add the onion and carrots, and sauté until soft.
  3. Stir in the peas and Worcestershire sauce, season with salt and pepper, and allow to simmer.
  4. Boil potatoes until tender, then drain and mash with butter and cream until fluffy.
  5. Layer the meat filling in a baking dish, then spread the mashed potatoes on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, replace ground meat with lentils or mushrooms. Ensure to check for gluten-free Worcestershire sauce if necessary.
