Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized starchy potatoes (such as Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh herbs (such as rosemary or thyme), optional for garnish
  • Balsamic glaze, optional for drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Make thin, even cuts across the top of each potato, stopping just before the bottom to keep them intact.
  3. Soak the potatoes in melted butter and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the potatoes on a lined baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes, turning occasionally for even cooking.
