Description

Rich chocolate fudgy brownies with a bright hit of peppermint, perfect for the holidays.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa), chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl or microwave.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with sugar until glossy.
  3. Fold the melted chocolate into the egg mixture with sifted cocoa and flour.
  4. Pour into a lined 9×13-inch pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 22–28 minutes until a toothpick shows moist crumbs.
  5. Cool on a wire rack.
  6. Prepare ganache by heating heavy cream and pouring over chocolate, letting it sit, then stirring until smooth.
  7. Pour warm ganache over the brownies and scatter crushed candy canes on top immediately.
  8. Chill for 15–20 minutes for clean cuts.

Notes

For clean slicing, run a knife under hot water and wipe between cuts.
