Description

These Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs combine juicy, seasoned meat with melted mozzarella cheese for an unforgettable meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey (about 85% lean)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese, cut into chunks
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Your favorite marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into meatballs, making a small indent in the center of each one.
  4. Place a chunk of mozzarella cheese in the indent and reshape the meatball to seal the cheese inside.
  5. Arrange the meatballs on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Transfer baked meatballs to a pot with marinara sauce and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.

Notes

For best results, chill the formed meatballs for about 30 minutes before baking to help them hold their shape.
