Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 20 mini hot dogs
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together milk and egg.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Preheat the oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F-375°F.
  5. Skewer the mini hot dogs onto sticks.
  6. Dip each hot dog into the batter, letting excess drip off.
  7. Carefully drop the battered hot dogs into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
