Description

Crispy outside and melty inside, these gooey cheese bites are perfect for any gathering or holiday celebration.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz (450 g) fresh mozzarella, cut into 3/4–1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, seasoned
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Chill mozzarella cubes in the freezer for 30–60 minutes.
  2. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs mixed with milk, and panko with Parmesan and seasoning.
  3. Dredge frozen cheese in flour, dip in egg, and coat with breadcrumbs. Repeat for a double coat.
  4. Fry in 2 inches of oil at 350°F until golden (about 1–3 minutes) or bake on a wire rack at 425°F for 10–12 minutes, turning halfway.
  5. Drain on a rack and serve warm with dipping sauce.

Notes

Freezing the cheese helps prevent leaking during cooking. Use a double breadcrumb coating for a thicker shell.
