Description

Delightful flaky pastry filled with flavorful spiced filling, perfect for appetizers and snacks.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup shortening, cold
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 medium potatoes, diced
  • 2 tablespoons curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 egg, for wash

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, mix flour, butter, shortening, and salt until crumbly. Add cold water to form a smooth ball. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the filling: Sauté onion, potatoes, and spices until fragrant.
  3. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
  4. Fill each circle with the savory mixture and fold over, sealing the edges tightly.
  5. Brush the tops with egg wash.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with cilantro chutney or sweet chili sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
