Ingredients
Scale
- 12 lb fresh turkey
- 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme
- 1 tbsp fresh rosemary
- 1 tbsp fresh sage
- 5 garlic cloves (minced)
- 2 large sweet onions (chopped)
- 4 large carrots (sliced)
- 8 cups day-old bread cubes
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 2 stalks celery (chopped)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Carefully loosen the skin of the turkey.
- Rub softened butter all over the turkey, seasoning generously with salt and pepper. Insert the minced garlic and fresh herbs under the skin for added flavor.
- In a large bowl, mix bread cubes, sautéed onions, chopped celery, sliced carrots, and chicken broth until the mixture is moist.
- Stuff this mixture into the turkey cavity.
- Place the turkey on a rack in a roasting pan. Roast it for about 13 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches at least 165°F (74°C).
- Baste the turkey every hour to keep it moist and flavorful.
- Once done, let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
Notes
Ensure the turkey is fully thawed before cooking and consider brining overnight for extra flavor.
