Description

Delicious and easy-to-make pretzel bites wrapped around bratwurst, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bratwurst sausages
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Mix yeast, warm water, and brown sugar; let foamy for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, salt, and melted butter; stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth; let rise in a warm place for 45 minutes.
  4. Boil bratwurst for about 5 minutes; slice into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Roll out the dough, cut into strips, and wrap around each bratwurst piece.
  6. Pinch to seal edges; let rest for a few minutes.
  7. Prepare a baking soda bath and dip each bite for about 30 seconds.
  8. Place on a baking tray, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with coarse salt.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) until golden brown, about 12-15 minutes.

Notes

Keep the dough slightly sticky for best results and always perform the baking soda bath for that classic pretzel flavor.
