Description

These cream cheese–swirled brownies feature a fudgy chocolate base with a tangy cream cheese ribbon, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter
  • 2 ounces (55 g) semisweet chocolate (optional)
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup (35 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (90 g) chocolate chips (optional)
  • 8 ounces (225 g) cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) sugar for cream cheese layer
  • 1 egg for cream cheese layer
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract for cream cheese layer

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch square pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate together until smooth.
  3. Whisk in the sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  4. Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips (if using).
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  7. Pour half of the brownie batter into the lined pan, dollop the cream cheese mixture on top, and then add the remaining brownie batter.
  8. Swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  9. Bake for 30–35 minutes, rotating halfway through, until the edges are set.
  10. Cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

For best results, use room-temperature ingredients and avoid overmixing after adding flour.
