- 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with liners.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
- In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, softened butter, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let them cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
