- 8 oz (226g) dark chocolate (70% cacao)
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Fresh berries for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs, sugar, and cocoa powder until just combined.
- If using, stir in vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until the edges are set but the center remains slightly soft.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar, slice, and serve with whipped cream and fresh berries if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the fridge for 5 days. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
