Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sesame Seeds (Toasted for enhanced flavor)
  • 23 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil (For creaminess and richness)
  • ½ teaspoon Sea Salt (Adjust to taste)
  • 24 tablespoons Water (To achieve desired consistency)
  • Optional Flavorings (Garlic powder, lemon juice, or spices)

Instructions

  1. Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until golden and fragrant, stirring often.
  2. Remove from heat and let the toasted seeds cool for a few minutes.
  3. Transfer cooled sesame seeds to a food processor and add olive oil, sea salt, and any optional flavorings.
  4. Blend on high speed for 1-2 minutes until the mixture looks crumbly, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.
  5. Slowly add water while blending until the mixture is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Taste the tahini and adjust salt or flavorings if needed. Blend briefly to mix.
  7. Transfer the tahini to a clean jar, seal tightly, and refrigerate.

Notes

Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks. Stir before use as separation may occur.
