Description

A simple and quick recipe for homemade cranberry sauce that enhances many holiday dishes with its fresh, tangy flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Rinse fresh cranberries under cold water, discarding any bad berries.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to low. Stir in orange zest and cinnamon, and simmer for about 10 minutes until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool completely before transferring to an airtight container.

Notes

Make sure to rinse the cranberries well to remove any dirt. If you prefer a sweeter sauce, adjust the sugar to your taste. For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of vanilla extract. You can experiment with other citrus zests, like lemon or lime, for a different twist.
