- 2 cups Heavy Cream, rich and creamy base
- 2 cups Cheddar Cheese, shredded, sharp flavor enhances dish
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced, gives depth of flavor
- 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg, optional, adds warmth
- Salt & Pepper, to taste, essentials for seasoning
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Thinly slice the Yukon Gold potatoes.
- In a saucepan, combine heavy cream and minced garlic, then heat until just simmering.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar cheese.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream, and cheese.
- Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Bake for 45-60 minutes, until potatoes are tender and top is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
These potatoes can be made ahead and are even better the next day. You can mix and match cheeses according to your preference.
