Description
A delightful traditional Italian Margherita pizza with fresh ingredients and a crispy crust.

- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast
- ¾ cup warm water (110°F or 43°C)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- Fresh basil leaves
- Olive oil (for drizzling)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together.
- Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone inside for 30 minutes.
- Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a 12-inch circle.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly on the dough, then add slices of mozzarella.
- Transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Remove the pizza from the oven, top with fresh basil, and drizzle with olive oil.
Notes
This recipe serves 4. You can add toppings like pepperoni or vegetables as desired. A pizza peel makes transferring the pizza easier.
