Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into patties.
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Cook the patties until they are browned on both sides.
- Once browned, remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.
- In the same skillet, whisk in flour to make a roux. Slowly add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce while stirring until the mixture thickens.
- Return the patties to the skillet and let them simmer in the gravy for about 10 minutes.
- Serve over mashed potatoes or buttered noodles for a delicious meal.
Notes
For extra flavor, use seasoned breadcrumbs. Don’t skip the browning step; it adds depth to the dish. Adjust the thickness of the gravy by adding more or less beef broth. For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the gravy.
