A comforting and hearty dish featuring ground beef and a rich, savory gravy, perfect for busy weeknights or cozy weekend dinners.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into patties.
  2. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Cook the patties until they are browned on both sides.
  3. Once browned, remove the patties from the skillet and set them aside.
  4. In the same skillet, whisk in flour to make a roux. Slowly add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce while stirring until the mixture thickens.
  5. Return the patties to the skillet and let them simmer in the gravy for about 10 minutes.
  6. Serve over mashed potatoes or buttered noodles for a delicious meal.

Notes

For extra flavor, use seasoned breadcrumbs. Don’t skip the browning step; it adds depth to the dish. Adjust the thickness of the gravy by adding more or less beef broth. For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the gravy.
