- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cups egg noodles (or any pasta you prefer)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)
- 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for sautéing)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions, drain, and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook for about 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix to combine.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and beef broth until smooth.
- Add the cooked beef mixture to the sauce and stir well to combine.
- Add the cooked noodles into the skillet with the beef mixture and stir gently to coat the noodles evenly with the sauce.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer the beef and noodle mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Cover the casserole with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- After 25-30 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley for added color and flavor.
Notes
For added flavor, incorporate vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms, or use different types of cheese.
