Description

A dramatic appetizer featuring a wheel of brie wrapped in a crisp bread bowl, topped with sweet-tart cranberry sauce and fragrant thyme.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round bread boule (810 inches)
  • 1 wheel of brie (812 oz)
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Olive oil or melted butter (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Hollow out the bread boule, leaving a 1–1.5 inch shell.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, and thyme; simmer until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  4. Brush the inside of the hollowed bread with olive oil or melted butter.
  5. Place the brie inside the bread bowl and generously spoon cranberry sauce over it.
  6. Brush the bread bowl’s top and edges with egg wash.
  7. Bake in the oven for 20–25 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden.
  8. Serve warm with sliced bread “lid,” fruits, and crackers.

Notes

Consider serving with sliced apples, pears, or crackers for added texture. Leftover cranberry sauce can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 days.
