Crispy, carnival-style funnel cake donuts with a tender center, perfect for brunch or dessert.
Ingredients

- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup (240 ml) milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Neutral oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut)
- Powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar for coating
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together wet and dry ingredients separately: flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, egg, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth.
- Let the batter rest for 10–15 minutes.
- Heat 2–3 inches of neutral oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a squeeze bottle or pastry bag, pipe rings of batter into the hot oil.
- Fry for 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Drain on a cooling rack and toss while warm in powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar.
Notes
Best eaten fresh for crispness. Store in an airtight container for up to 24 hours, or refrigerate for 2 days. Best reheated in a 350°F oven.
