- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and salt together.
- Add the buttermilk and stir until just combined.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat, about 350°F (175°C).
- Using an ice cream scoop, form patties from the batter and carefully place them in the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove and let rest on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
Notes
For best results, ensure your oil is hot enough, and don’t overcrowd the pan while frying.
