- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 4 large eggs

- 1 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Gradually add this to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool for ten minutes in the pans before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for better mixing. Don’t overmix the batter; mix until just combined for a lighter cake. Always check for doneness with a toothpick in the center of the cake. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
