A rich and beautiful cake perfect for special occasions, featuring soft layers, creamy frosting, and silky white chocolate ganache.

  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 12 oz white chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk.
  6. Divide the batter between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely.
  7. For the ganache, heat the heavy cream until it begins to simmer, then remove from heat and stir in the chopped white chocolate until smooth. Let cool until thickened.
  8. For the buttercream, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing until smooth. Add the vanilla extract and heavy cream, and mix until fluffy.
  9. Assemble the cake by placing one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of buttercream on top, add the second layer, and cover the top and sides with buttercream. Pour the ganache on top, letting it drip down the sides of the cake.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Chill ganache slightly before pouring it onto the cake to maintain its shape.
