Ingredients
Scale
- 6 cups Apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) – Peeled, cored, and sliced into thin wedges
- ¾ cup Granulated Sugar – Adjust based on the sweetness of your apples
- ½ cup Brown Sugar – Packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1½ cups Rolled Oats – For the topping
- 1 cup All-Purpose Flour – Essential for binding the topping ingredients
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon – Adds warmth and depth to the flavor
- ½ cup Unsalted Butter – Melted, for binding the topping ingredients
- 1 scoop Ice Cream – Your favorite flavor, like vanilla or caramel
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them into thin wedges. Toss the sliced apples in a large mixing bowl with granulated sugar and cinnamon.
- Transfer the coated apples into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In another mixing bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly.
- Melt the butter and stir it into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the prepared apples.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the apple filling is bubbling.
- Let it cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream on top.
Notes
Choose a mix of sweet and tart apples for a balanced flavor. For extra crunch, add chopped nuts to the topping mixture. Adjust the sugar based on the type of apples you use; tart apples may need more sugar. Serve the ice cream on the side if you prefer to keep the crisp from getting soggy.
