Adorable pumpkin-shaped hand pies filled with spiced pumpkin, perfect for Halloween festivities.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Pie Dough (Store-bought or homemade, thaw if frozen)
  • 1 cup Canned Pumpkin (Use pure pumpkin, not pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar (You can adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp Spices (Cinnamon or Nutmeg, adjust to flavor preference)
  • 1 Egg (Beaten for brushing on top)
  • 12 tbsp Raw Sugar (optional, for added sparkle on top)

Instructions

  1. Roll out the pie dough and cut out pumpkin shapes using a cookie cutter or a knife.
  2. Cut faces out of half of the pumpkin shapes.
  3. Spoon a small amount of pumpkin filling onto the plain pumpkin shapes.
  4. Top with the face-cut pieces and crimp the edges with a fork.
  5. Brush with egg wash for gloss.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

Don’t overload the filling to prevent explosions. Seal well to avoid leakage during baking. These pies taste best fresh from the oven.
