Description

A delicious and crunchy Indian snack made with chickpea flour and a unique blend of spices, perfect for snacking or as a topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, sift the chickpea flour with the turmeric, chili powder, asafoetida, and salt.
  2. Add enough water to form a smooth, thick dough.
  3. Using a sev maker or a piping bag, press the dough out into thin strands.
  4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to around 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry the strands in small batches until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

Notes

Ensure the oil temperature is maintained to avoid oily Sev. Store in an airtight container to keep them crunchy.
