- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Green gel food coloring
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2–3 tablespoons milk
- Sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, until smooth.
- Scoop batter into prepared muffin tin, filling about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool completely.
- Prepare the buttercream frosting by beating together butter, powdered sugar, and milk until creamy. Add green gel food coloring to achieve a tree color.
- Once cupcakes are cooled, use a piping bag to decorate each cupcake with the green frosting to look like a Christmas tree.
- Top with sprinkles as desired and serve on a decorative platter.
Notes
Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing. Chill frosting if it gets too soft during piping.
