- 1 cup melted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup corn syrup (or maple syrup)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch pan.
- In a bowl, prepare the brownie batter by mixing melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, and flour until combined.
- Spread the brownie batter into the prepared pan and bake for 18–22 minutes, until a toothpick inserted shows moist crumbs.
- While the brownie base cools slightly, mix the pecan pie topping ingredients: brown sugar, melted butter, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla, and chopped pecans.
- Spoon the pecan topping evenly over the brownies and return to the oven for 12–15 minutes until the topping is bubbly and set.
- Remove and cool completely on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
Notes
For fudgier brownies, underbake by a few minutes. Use uniform sized pecans for even baking.
