Description

These Decadent Fig and Cream Cheese Bars are a celebration of autumn’s bounty with a delicious combination of figs and cream cheese, perfect for any fall gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups fresh figs, diced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (for compote)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, ½ cup sugar, and butter until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture into a baking dish to form the crust.
  4. In another bowl, beat together cream cheese, ½ cup sugar, and eggs until smooth.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crust.
  6. In a saucepan, cook diced figs with ¼ cup sugar until soft, then spread the fig compote over the cream cheese.
  7. Bake for about 30 minutes until set.
  8. Allow to cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

For best results, chill in the fridge for several hours before slicing. Garnish with chopped walnuts or honey if desired.
