Description

A comforting bowl of creamy mac and cheese made with a rich cheese sauce, perfect for cozy nights or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Mustard powder, to taste
  • Optional: Bread crumbs, for topping

Instructions

  1. Boil the elbow macaroni in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a heavy-bottomed pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to create a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, continuing to whisk until the mixture thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the sharp cheddar and mozzarella until melted and smooth.
  5. Combine the cheese sauce with the pasta, stirring to coat evenly.
  6. Serve immediately or transfer to a baking dish, top with bread crumbs, and bake at 350°F (175°C) until bubbly and golden.

Notes

Use quality cheese for best results. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed. Add proteins or vegetables for a more complete meal.
