A delightful sweet and tart cranberry sauce that pairs perfectly with turkey and holiday dishes, made ahead of time for convenience.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fresh cranberries and discard any that look blemished or spoiled.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, sugar, orange juice, and orange zest. Stir the mixture until it starts to bubble.
  3. Add the cinnamon stick to the saucepan and reduce the heat to low. Let the mixture simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the sauce to cool completely.
  5. Transfer the cooled cranberry sauce to an airtight container. You can serve it chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

For a unique flavor, consider adding a splash of brandy or chopped nuts. For a smoother texture, blend the mixture once it has cooled slightly.
