Description

A cozy casserole combining the rich flavors of French onion soup, tender chicken, and orzo pasta, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 2 cups cooked orzo pasta
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-low heat and sauté onions for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Stir in chicken, cooked orzo, chicken broth, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Transfer mixture to a greased baking dish and sprinkle with Gruyère and mozzarella cheese on top.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Notes

For best results, allow leftovers to sit overnight for flavors to meld. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
