Description

A delicious Muffuletta sandwich featuring layers of cured meats, cheese, and a zesty olive salad, perfect for picnics and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 round loaf of Italian bread
  • 4 oz salami
  • 4 oz mortadella
  • 4 oz ham
  • 4 oz provolone cheese
  • 1 cup mixed olives, chopped
  • 1/4 cup celery, diced
  • 1/4 cup carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the Italian bread in half horizontally.
  2. Layer the salami, mortadella, ham, and provolone cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
  3. In a bowl, combine chopped olives, diced celery, diced carrots, minced garlic, olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper to make the olive salad.
  4. Spread a generous scoop of olive salad on top of the cheese.
  5. Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich and press down gently.
  6. If desired, grill the assembled sandwich in a pan with a bit of oil for 2-3 minutes until crispy and warm.
  7. Cut into quarters and serve.

Notes

For best flavor, prepare the olive salad a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Use fresh bread for the best texture.
